TEEN BEDROOM
This teen had outgrown her bunk bed and childhood bedroom design and asked for a room makeover as her 18th birthday gift. We started by looking through the numerous ideas she had pulled together from Pinterest and other sources. Her style is very clean, neutral and modern - but being a bedroom there also needs to be a sense of softness and comfort. The biggest constrain with this room was the size - a tiny area of 2.7 x 2.7m! It was going to be crucial to maximise the feeling of spaciousness and serenity.
We were working with existing furnishings, luckily the bunk was made up of a separate double base and mattress and an overhead single loft bed. The bunk structure and loft bed were sold online and the double bed re positioned. The shallow 40cm deep wardrobe was out of site from the doorway and the open shelving positioned with an end to the door to hide the contents.
The mostly white decor with black and oak accents ensures the focus is directed to the over sized grey felt bedhead with LED trim, which transforms the room with a colour for every mood. The large mirror is positioned to provide a full length view and increase the depth of the room
Soft chenille bedding adds comfort and the large pillows double as extra floor seating when friends come over. Artwork and keepsakes are displayed on shallow shelving above the bed, while floating shelving stretches up the adjacent wall creating additional storage space.
